Lyra Lines and Shapes
This is an introduction to abstract art. Students experience success without the frustrations of trying to produce realism. Students practice observation as they search for lines in their classrooms, garden and even on each other. They practice creative thinking as they imagine more lines. Students use Lyra crayons (water soluble graphite sticks) to create drawings comprised of lines and shapes. At the very end use water and a paintbrush and watch as their drawn pencil lines turn into rich black ink.
